چکیده

ObjectiveThe present study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of a new two-dimensional shear wave elastography (2D-SWE) method using Siemens ultrasound system and its combination with American College Radiology Thyroid Imaging Reporting Data System (ACR TI-RADS) for differential diagnosis benign malignant thyroid nodules.MethodsConventional images 2D-SWE (E-whole-mean E-stiffest-mean) were prospectively analyzed in 593 nodules from 543 patients. Nodules divided into diameter (D) ≤10 mm D > 10 groups graded ACR TI-RADS. The receiver operating characteristic curve was plotted pathological findings as gold standard. Diagnostic performance compared among 2D-SWE, TI-RADS, their combination.ResultsThe area under (AUC) E-whole-mean higher than that E-stiffest-mean (0.858 vs. 0.790, P < 0.001), which indicated it better parameter differentiating an optimal cut-off point 11.36 kPa. In all-sizes group, AUC TI-RADS 0.808, 0.001). resulted (0.929 0.858 sensitivity (87.0% 80.3% 85.2%), specificity (85.1% 74.0% 73.6%), accuracy (86.3% 78.1% 81.1%), positive predictive value (91.5% 85.1% 85.6%), negative (78.0% 67.0% 72.9%) or alone. superior alone both ≤ (P 0.001).ConclusionAs parameter, had diagnostic power enhanced when identifying nodules. improved alone, providing reliable clinical

Computerize classification of Benign and malignant thyroid nodules by ultrasound imaging

Introduction: Early detection and treatment of thyroid nodules increase the cure rate and provide optimal treatment. Ultrasound is the chosen imaging technique for assessment of thyroid nodules. Confirmation of the diagnosis usually demands repeated fine needle aspiration biopsy (FNAB). So, current management, has morbidity and non zero mortality. The goal of the present study ...

Comparison of Diagnostic Accuracy of Real-Time Elastography and Shear Wave Elastography in Differentiation Malignant From Benign Thyroid Nodules

Thyroid nodules are relatively more prevalent in iodine-deficiency area, and the incidence increased sharply in the past decade in these areas. Workup of malignant from benign nodules in clinic was the main problem for managing thyroid nodules. An overall search for the articles about the diagnostic performance of real-time elastography (RTE) and shear wave elastography (SWE) before April 2015 i...

Diagnostic potential of real-time elastography (RTE) and shear wave elastography (SWE) to differentiate benign and malignant thyroid nodules

BACKGROUND Real-time elastography (RTE) and shear wave elastography (SWE) are noninvasive and easily available imaging techniques that measure the tissue strain, and it has been reported that the sensitivity and the specificity of elastography were better in differentiating between benign and malignant thyroid nodules than conventional technologies. METHODS Relevant articles were searched in ...

Classification of Benign and Malignant Thyroid Nodules Using a Combined Clinical Information and Gene Expression Signatures

BACKGROUND A key challenge in thyroid carcinoma is preoperatively diagnosing malignant thyroid nodules. A novel diagnostic test that measures the expression of a 3-gene signature (DPP4, SCG5 and CA12) has demonstrated promise in thyroid carcinoma assessment. However, more reliable prediction methods combining clinical features with genomic signatures with high accuracy, good stability and low c...
